Atelier chant

Avec Sylvie Berger (FR)

On Friday, enjoy her concert with La Bergère and on Saturday come and sing with Sylvie Berger.

In the din of days, a voice rises that brushes past us. Sylvie Berger sings and gently compels our attention..

The press is not shy in using adjectives to describe her voice, identifiable among a thousand: “fairy voice, source song”, “fragile and powerful”, “all in finesse, softly worn”, “delicate and poignant”, “clear yet strange”, in short, “a delight”. By confidently appropriating both popular poetry and the poems of illustrious authors, Sylvie Berger touches us with sincerity. In the melodies she writes to the texts of Victor Hugo, Gaston Couté, or Gabriel Yacoub, we find the imprint of her attachment to traditional songs that she carries like no other. She also enjoys sharing this immense repertoire during oral transmission workshops..

Acoustic nap

With  Zabou Guérin (FR)

A concert to be enjoyed lying down or sitting, in the centre of the room, in a soft and enveloping musical atmosphere. No intense lights, microphones, or applause break the charm of this timeless moment. Feel free to bring your cushion or comfort blanket to relax and nap at your leisure..

This moment will be accompanied by Zabou Guérin. With an Auvergnat mother, a restaurateur, playing the accordion at the end of service to make the customers sing and dance, and a father who only listens to musette accordion, they initially reject this instrument that their parents impose on them. But eventually, their teacher helps them discover the "hidden sides." From classical to jazz, through world music, the accordion can do it all! A new world opens up, and the accordion becomes a passion !

By going through various training programmes, they develop their technique, discover improvisation, accompaniment, and arrangement, meet musicians from all backgrounds, and also learn how to share and transmit their musical passion and the joy of playing in a group..

Atelier danse - danses cajun

With  Bernard & Silviane  Guihard (BE)

Settled in the 17th century in Acadia (eastern Quebec), the first French colonists (Acadians) driven out by the English in 1755, regrouped in the bayous of Louisiana, a wild territory where their traditions took root..

The family, friends, good food, music and dance have allowed the Cajuns to survive in this sometimes hostile nature, with the influence of all the identities that have crossed their territory (Indian, Creole, African, Spanish...).

Bernard & Silviane Guihard met French-speaking Cajuns from Louisiana 25 years ago. These encounters and the learning of Cajun dances led them to host the Cajun nights in Saulie, at the Pontchartrain Festival, as well as several sessions at the Grand Bal de l'Europe ... and today in Marsinne !

Swedish Ball (SE)

A meeting between two string virtuosos, featuring tunes and rhythms from Värmland and Västmanland in Sweden, while also not forgetting the good music from other geographical horizons; you will hear various types of polskas, waltzes, schottisches, and minuets. Newly composed pieces sit alongside music that has just been revived after spending centuries hidden in archives; the oral tradition shares the stage with contemporary folk music and the innovative ideas of the duo, making the dance floor come alive...

my little cabbage

 Cajun Ball  (FR)

My Little Cabbage, a song by Shorty Leblanc, is both a literal and approximate translation of « Mon

petit chou ». This title, like the popular music of the Francophone communities of Louisiana, is a testament to the intersection of different cultures, languages, and music in the Southern United States.

My Little Cabbage, a Rennes trio, takes this affectionate title as its emblem. With an Old Style instrumentation, the trio makes you dance by drawing its repertoire from the roots of Francophone music from Louisiana..

BALAM

Concert (BE)

Balam means "wind" in Korean. It is the breath without interruption, a gust of haunting and swirling melodies. Whispered waltzes at the tips of fingers, lyrical flights at full blast, four chromatic accordions in all their breaths. Balam is a trade wind of compositions, a harmattan of harmonies, a sirocco of shivers in unison. And then a lot of love in the offing. Inspiration, expiration... dive.

Fluencia quartet

Concert (ES - FIN - SE - BE)

The Fluencia quartet offers a visual music born from the meeting of four female artists who have a strong grounding in their respective traditions. The repertoire is a blend of their own compositions infused with their universes, namely flamenco, traditional music, and Swedish dances. It is an exploration towards a common musical and choreographic space, where voices can rise and elevate together, without renouncing their own identity, and where a warm place is left for the audience on the dance floor..

Poizète

Musette ball & Poitou (FR)

Poizète began 18 years ago in Poitou with a promise: to play together one day. Rachel Bazoge is a singer-violinist, a lover of words, while Zabou Guérin was almost born with an accordion in their arms. Having been accustomed to balls and celebrations since their earliest childhood, the pleasure and desire to make people dance brings them together today as if it were a given.

To dance, alright, but to what repertoire? Their love for committed French song quickly directs them towards musette, which has accompanied both of them for a good part of their lives. And the desire for collective and inclusive dances takes them back to the origin of their meeting: Poitou. For this brand new creation, Rachel and Zabou are offering you a ball that combines couple dances from musette and collective dances from Poitou, all accompanied by engaged texts where they humorously and emotionally denounce subjects that touch and concern them..

Andy cutting

Bal Folk (GB)

Andy Cutting is a rare gem. An outstanding musician: a virtuoso of the accordion, both profound and technically exceptional, endowed with an innate sense of melody.

Many of his compositions have been covered, some even becoming contemporary classics of the folk scene.

But Andy is also a warm and expressive artist, who captivates his audience with deadpan humour before dazzling them with simply breathtaking musicality. Few accordionists put as much heart into their work, whether it be dance pieces or accompaniment for an English ballad. A member of the legendary group Blowzabella and involved in various collaborations, including with Chris Wood and Karen Tweed and even... Sting!

trilogie de solo

Julien Cartonnet (FR)

Roger Moure is the solo dance of Julien Cartonnet. No fuss, just energy, an amp, pedals, and a BANJO!

Pascale Rubens (BE)

Pascale Rubens is an accordionist and violinist in the folk group Naragonia and has been touring with this duo across Europe since 2003. This year, in Belgium, you will also be able to see her on stage as a musician in the new show by Begijn Le Bleu. She teaches in the folk and world music department at the Academy of Schoten, regularly runs diatonic accordion workshops in Belgium and abroad, and plays solo with great pleasure to make you dance..

Marie-Hélène Maréchal (BE)

Accordionist and singer active in traditional music in Wallonia, Marie-Hélène is also a co-initiator of Melchior, a project dedicated to the centralisation, transmission, and promotion of traditional repertoires from Wallonia. Inspired by field recordings, the joy of making people dance, and a lively and friendly practice of singing, she develops a musical journey between interpretation and the desire for sharing and transmission..

Marie paulette

Folk ball (FR)

Marie Paulette draws inspiration from the rhythms of traditional dances as the foundation of her music. The duo transforms them again and again into a progressive and cosmopolitan trance..

Diatonic accordion, electric guitar, looper, guttural and diphonic singing, as well as polyphony of voices, take the audience on an evolving and surprising repetition.

Marie Paulette, it's rock, smooth, folk, and above all, dance.

Jeanne Lemoine

Ball - Song in the Round (FR))

Nothing is more powerful than the circle that forms: hands joined, bodies aligned, voices intertwining to create a single breath. In the round, the song transcends mere melody; it becomes an act of union, where each voice carries the weight of the community. Whether to celebrate a summer, mourn a winter, or simply share a moment of joy, the round transforms the individual into the collective..

The rhythms assert themselves, often simpler than complex scores, but infinitely richer in emotion. The singing is often oral, passed down from generation to generation, and each rendition adds a new layer to the group's memory. Here, dance and voice become one, creating a vibration that resonates far beyond the walls of the room..

So, open the circle, take the hand of your neighbour, and let yourself be carried away by this millennia-old tradition where song is the invisible link that unites us all.

Cadène

Folk Ball (Fr)

Traditional dances, with their specific rhythms, are here boldly carried by compositions, often inspired by the music of regions in France, Ireland, West Africa, the Middle East, Scandinavian countries, and Cajun....

Coming from different backgrounds, the four musicians of Cadène each contribute their stone to this edifice by tuning their violins, accordion, cittern, and bagpipes from the Centre to speak a single language: that of the dance, sharing, and conviviality..
